Harnessing Sexual Energy with Consciousness

Orgasmic Meditation involves one person gently stroking the clitoris of the other person for 15 minutes while both place their attention on the point of contact and notice what they feel. In this way, they can harness sexual energies towards meditation, allowing access to mental and physiological states from which healing occurs.

What Experts Say

Andrew Newberg

Director, Marcus Institute of Integrative Health

“After a year of bringing people into our lab to perform the OM practice, I finally had the opportunity to sit down with the data. We saw decreases in frontal lobe activity, associated with a sense of letting go or release. Another area was the anterior cingulate gyrus…supporting how OM…can be useful in helping people regulate their emotions.”

“Decreased parietal lobe activity is consistent with their feeling of oneness and connectedness with each other and the world.”

Teresa Diaz, OBGYN

Family Care Physician
“As a physician, I see many patients and therefore I get to see the bigger picture of the ill effects of chronic stress, sedentary habits, addictions, isolation, poverty, poor diets and the common belief that somehow every individual person seems to think they are doing it all wrong and to themselves. They can’t find their way out of this dilemma because they are unplugged. What are the health benefits of Orgasmic Meditation?  Ask me what are the health benefits of community and connection and intimacy and love and honesty and being connected to your body and relaxation and hormone balancing and sleep.

Christine Northrop, OB/GYN

Author “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom”

“Ah! Combining meditative awareness with sexual pleasure! What could be better- or more life-enhancing than this?”

Dr. Michelle Veneziano, Osteopath

Adjunct clinical faculty at Touro and Western universities

“As a family practice physician who for nearly two years has been evaluating people who practice Orgasmic Meditation (OM), I’ve observed that that health benefits of OM singularly exceed those of any other mindfulness, stress reduction and trauma resolution interventions that I am aware of.”

Sara Gottfried, MD

Harvard-educated doctor, author “The Hormone Cure

“I consider OM a crucial addition to the language of female empowerment and experience. Perhaps most important, OM may be the best treatment available for our stress-crazed lives and overtaxed adrenal glands. It may just be the best possible hormone therapy for women of all ages.”

Anna Cabeca, DO, FACOG

Triple-board certified OB/GYN and women’s health expert

“As a women’s sexual health expert, I recommend OM to all my women. Orgasmic Meditation is such an important part of reviving and reconnecting with your genital health and your entire sensations of being alive in a sexual, energetic way….I hear from women that integrating this easy, gentle practice into your daily life is reviving and an amazing reconnection. It completely transforms their day, their energy, and helps them restore their sexual energy. Whatever state of health they start in, this is a way to reconnect and restore that vital energy.

Catherine Lockwood, MFT

Marriage and relationship counselor in Los Angeles, California

“OMing can help take the pressure off and lower anxiety. After all, it’s a meditation: Just relax and keep bringing one’s attention back to what’s happening in the present moment without judgment.”

OM Expands
Emotional Range

In a study with 125 OM pairs, researchers found that OM both increased positive emotions including happiness and closeness while decreasing negative emotions. The effect of OM is to widen emotional range, or overall capacity to feel, as compared to pharmaceutical drugs, which dampen positive emotions.

OM Gives Access To Mystical States

In an evaluation of 780 OM practitioners using the highly rated Mystical Experience Questionnaire, developed by Johns Hopkins University, it was found that 63% of practitioners had experienced a mystical state, defined as religious, peak or transcendental experiences or epiphanies, on par with the second highest dose of psilocybin. Even a single episode of mystical experience has been shown to provide long-term reductions in symptoms of addiction, depression, and other mood disorders.

Helping People with Trauma Regain Sexual Function

Researchers found that OM resulted in higher arousal for people with a history of childhood trauma than those without, defying research expectations. This suggests OM may help to unthaw from the numbness associated with trauma.

“How can we break the silence that we’ve lived through the past centuries? [Sexuality] was something that we never were able to talk about…you’re learning not only to just talk about it, you’ve learned that it’s an important part of our lives. It’s an important part of our consciousness. It makes us all better, makes us do things better, think better.”
